From the Inbox
If any Lion, or other person, wants to see the emails this info came from, email me and let me know what you’re interested in. They’ll be available for a short time.
Lion Bob Lawhon forwarded a link to an article in SFGate titled “What’s San Francisco’s most ‘authentic’ neighborhood?” There is a write-up about the Excelsior, and image 16 of 40 features Bravo Pizza at Geneva & Mission.
Apps: Lions International has come out with two new apps, available in Google Play and the Apple Store. The first is for the LION Magazine that you can read online, or with the app. The second is MyLion, which is not quite launched, but can be visited online.
Attendance Raffle & Mystery Lion
|Attendance Raffle non-winner was Lion Bob Lawhon, who missed out on $400. The Mystery Lion was Lion Sharon Eberhardt, who is on sick call and could not make the meeting. A lot of colds and lung infections going around.|| |
Lion Bob Fenech will be asking many Lions to help with the event, largely by doing the same as has been done the past couple of years. He‘ll be making clear what your assignment is. Until then, get your friends and neighbors and get your tickets which are available from the treasurer, Lion Lyle Workman.
Above is the design for this year’s teeshirt. They are priced the same as last year. Hopefully, we’ll get more than two sponsors which is all we had last year. $225.00 gets you the ad, plus a teeshirt. Let your business associates know and help them spread the word about their business.
It was a quick meeting with only 6 members present. The minutes and treasurer’s reports were approved; attendance for December was 50%; there was no old business (just old Lions); the Student Speaker Contest is set; nominations of officers for next year will be done next month; a request was received from AM Vets, DAV, and the American Legion Auxiliary to help fund prizes in the Creative Arts Festival (more here on the National Festival) at Ft. Miley for $200.00 and was approved. That’s it, done.
Lion Zeny Lawhon is home with a lung infection and is staying in bed with the cat for the duration. Lion Bob Lawhon has some junk going on as well (his words, not mine.)
12/12/18 - Lion Paul and Rosalinda Corvi at UNESCO Ifugao rice terrace village in the Philippines.
Lion Joe Farrah will not be attending our meeting and Student Speaker Contest with a great excuse: Lion Joe is being treated to a ten-day cruise to Puerto Vallarta commencing January 7th in celebration of his 90th birthday on January 14th. Happy Birthday Joe and have a great time!
Club trivia and condolences to John’s family. From Lion Joe Farrah: “The first accordionist who played at our club’s annual spaghetti & meatballs feed was Excelsior resident Domenic Saso. He won the grand prize in the Cadillac Raffle the first time he played. He moved to Sonoma County and was replaced by Alemany Blvd. resident John Fiore, a high school classmate of Ray Squeri and Bob Woodall. John has been in declining health and passed away Thursday night.”
