Meeting Digest 1-16-19
The meeting was called to order by Lion President George Salet. Lion Bob Fenech led the Pledge of Allegiance. The invocation was offered by Lion Ward Donnelly. A total of 7 members were present along with the guests for the Student Speaker Contest detailed below. The meeting was immediately handed off to Lion Paul Corvi.
Student Speaker Contest
Lion Paul Corvi began the contest by reading the required rules and letting us know that two of our speakers cancelled at the last minute which was a bit disappointing. Various members were asked to participate by being timers and tellers.
Our one speaker gave his speech on the topic “Freedom of the Press - What does it mean?” His speech was quietly delivered and contained some interesting facts and points of view. Surprisingly, it ran exactly 10 minutes, the required timing.
Following dinner, Lion Paul introduced our speaker: Michael Gray from Archbishop Riordan High School. He was accompanied by his parents and speaking coach. As our winner, he received a check from our Club and will go on to compete in the Zone Contest that is yet to be announced. Details will follow when available.

The judges were introduced: Frank Gellini (who was not feeling well and left early), John Harrison, and Ellen Paul. All three have judged our contest in the past and did their usual good job.

Crab Feed
Lion Bob Fenech will be asking many Lions to help with the event, largely by doing the same as has been done the past couple of years. He‘ll be making clear what your assignment is. Until then, get your friends and neighbors and get your tickets which are available from the treasurer, Lion Lyle Workman. To date, 28 tickets are paid for. Who’s next?

Above is the design for this year’s teeshirt. They are priced the same as last year. Hopefully, we’ll get more than two sponsors which is all we had last year. $225.00 gets you the ad, plus a teeshirt. Let your business associates know and help them spread the word about their business.
In a twist of fate, there are two other Lions Crab Feeds on February 23rd; the Foster City Lions and the Brisbane Lions are vying for attendance also.
